Mouth-watering Feast
Garlic Feast, a magnificent, Australian-produced 300-plus page hardback cookbook jammed full of amazing (and achievable) recipes from some of Australia’s top cooks and chefs.
Former BBC journalist Janice Sutton, a lifelong garlic fanatic, got the idea for a book celebrating all things garlicky when she and her husband Paul moved to beautiful Tasmania near the town of Koonya – famous for its garlic festival. Her idea grew and grew, the result being a cookbook that not only will look great on the coffee table but will be an indispensable reference in the kitchen.
There’s pretty much something for everyone in Garlic Feast; from a mouth-watering 24-clove garlic roast chicken (recipe courtesy of Maggie Beer), to garlic potato cakes, garlic pesto, roast tomato/garlic soup, curries, grills, salads, seafood – even desserts – all using delicious fresh, locally-grown garlic in the ingredients. It’s hard to pick a favourite – although crispy deep fried chicken wings with garlic nam jim sauce or the Japanese soy, ginger and garlic calamari or the grilled corn with garlic, chilli and lime yoghurt would come close for me.
